I started my new job at Canyons Ski Resort 4 weeks ago. I thought I'd show some pics of the view! You will see pics of my first ride on the Gondola from the base up to a midway point. You will also see picks of the Grand Summit Hotel where my office is located at the bottom of this lift.

I am now the Telecommunications Specialist for this resort. I had to move my fam down from Idaho to take the job. We live in Sandy now. We feel like the Lord has lead me up to this. When I lost my job over a year ago Rhonda and I were devastated. We moved to Idaho to be closer to family. The problem was there weren't any good paying jobs willing to hire me. I took a telecom job at Center Partners for very little pay. I figured it was just good to have a job over getting unemployment each week. Well I worked that job for ten months and learned what take others 3 years to learn about telecommunications. My boss was VERY pleased with my progress. For all his trying he couldn't get the company to give me or the other telecom techs a raise. We were so underpaid that the Fed Gov came and after auditing them they said either pay us techs more or get fined. The company decided to wait for the Gov to fine them.

Well, Once I knew I was going nowhere fast I applied to this current job. They were so impressed that they created a position just for me and gave me a $15,000/yr raise to come work for them. So here we are back in utah and grateful for our blessings.

This job has great perks as well. I get to ski the mountain for free, they will train me on snowmobiles, All restaurants and retail stores are 30% off for me, and it's a year around job. I maintain the phone system, the fiber and copper cabling, for 4 hotels, 7 restaurants, a chain of retail stores, a small call center, and several real-estate offices that cater to the filthy rich property owners.

Anyway, Rhonda and the kids are well. Aaron is 3 now, Isabel is 22 months, and Jarom is due in April. It's a pretty easy pregnancy so for for Rhonda. She is so excited for Jarom to come. I am too.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
I am going to try to do better at keeping better contact with you. I hope you all had a good year.

Bryce has been working so hard on our house. We bought it last febuary and have been working on it ever since. We are almost finished. We just have to paint and put some more tile and carpet on the floor. And a couple of other last minute details. Hopefully by the end of this month we will be able to move into the house. We have been staying at Patricia's house since June. I am so thankful for her.

Paul is going to be 2 years old this month. I can't believe how the time goes by so fast. He is such a joy. He loves to help Bryce and grandpa with anything. He loves to watch Monsters Inc., Shrek, and Toy Story.

We went to Washington for a visit. Dad is doing good. He retired earlier this year. He still does his chickens.

Bryce got a job at the American Fork Hospital in the Same day Surgery in March. I am staying busy watching Paul and Bryce's cousins daughter who is 6 months old. I had surgery in November for endometriosis. I recovered fast and now we are trying to add to our family. I help Bryce with the house when I can. I have learned a lot but mostly paitence.

Marilynn is doing good as well she works at the hospital. Loves being a grandma. She has 3 grandchildren from her own children. Plus all of our kids which adds 11 more.

I just read Nina's blog how it's so hot they have almost locked themselves up inside. Well that's not the case here. We had planned a picnic at 5 springs for home evening and almost got rained out but last moment the sun came out so I dawned my coat (yes coat Nina) and we headed to the hills for a COOL time. I have to say everything was so beautiful. I Love WYOMING!

The relief I felt caused tears to flow. I had been like June Cleaver the past few months, always “worried about the Beaver”. I hurried in the house at noon, with only five minutes lunch time to spare. I looked upon the white board for any messages, a ritual I did every day, so I can help my homebound husband with errands he may need at the end of my day. The message was literally a God send. One we had been praying for, no pleading might be a better description. The concern for our son and his family has been tumultuous. He lost his job in Oct. 2009. He and his wife and two small children packed up and moved from Ogden, Utah, to Idaho Falls, Idaho. They had had enough of Utah and being alone without family near. They had moved many times trying to better their circumstances. School loans left them in almost unmanageable debt. Poor health during two pregnancies, emergencies to the ER for the babies brought more debt. They were desperate to be near family but not quite ready to succumb to moving home with mom and dad. They chose Idaho Falls to be near his sister, and her aunt, and their families. They found an affordable apartment close to down town, and started looking for work-NOTHING. Months went by including Thanksgiving and Christmas. Financial bankruptcy was staring them in the face. Unemployment helped but even that was cut off when he turned down a very low paying job. I was trying to help out by paying for the loan I had co-signed with him to go to Stevens Henagar computer school. I sent money to help out when I could. They were floundering. There was one night we received a frantic call. The “Beave” was beside himself. They had had a rough evening and to top it off, their baby daughter was miraculously missed by a C D stand that had fallen over. They were on the verge of throwing in the towel and calling it quits, when their bishop showed up at their door. Acting on inspiration, he said he felt impressed to make a visit to them. He counseled them, gave them both blessings and encouragement. He reaffirmed how worthy they were to seek help, because the first thing my son said when he opened the door to the bishop was, (with a big smile) “Bishop, how can we help you?” They were both returned missionaries and were endeavoring to do the will of the Lord. They just needed patience and trust in the Lord. They received callings the next Sunday, and were asked to speak in church. They felt a new sense of peace and assurance that this was all for their benefit. They had new hope, new friends, and new purpose, but they still needed a new job. Because of that one discerning bishop, they had decided to hold on a little longer. She got a call the next week to work as a CNA on a night shift so he could watch the kids. He was notified he was reinstated for his unemployment. Things were starting to look up. The next week he got a call from his last hope for a computer job. He was to come back for a second interview. At that point, the other interviewees had turned down the job. They were impressed with his background in computers and other skills. He didn’t know about telecommunications, but they would consider him, and the other multi-numbered applicants and get back to him. More intense prayers and fasting were made for another week by us all.
I came home that following Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at high noon. Looking up at the message on the white board, I read “he got the job.”
“Ward, I’m not quite as worried about the Beaver now”, now I said with tears brimming, then spilling over. Now there’s his brothers and sisters' to stew about. Life with children is a great blessing, and sometimes the concerns can be overwhelming. We will never quit worrying. They will always be our children. I think I have a slight understanding of the love our Father in Heaven must have for us, His own children. How blessed we are to have such a heritage.

I got the job!

Olah Familia. So after searching for 5 months I finally found a job! I will start work on the 8th of Feb as the Telecommunications Admininstrator for a company called Center Partners. They are telemarketing compnay with thousands of agents on the call floor making sales calls to unsuspecting customers. I am in charge of keeping the phones and servers up and running so the call agents can do their job. This has come after months of agony and struggles for Rhonda and I. Thank you everyone who prayed for us. We really are seeing wonderful blessings now. My next post will be a qoute from my mom about how she saw our struggles. I hope it's not too sappy for you.

We are getting the plans going for the Mayes Family Christmas Eve! This year, we have reserved the Church Gym for our dinner. We will start at 5:30.

Geraldine is putting together a program. Claudia will bring her Nativity costumes, but if anyone has their own costume they would like to use, please feel free to bring it.

We will be having a fish pond for kids under 12; however, small gifts have already been purchased, so no one will need to bring gifts.

Thanks for the new post and all the pics! They are great! It was a great reunion and my wife and I had a blast. Thanks everyone for putting this together!

We visited Aunt Glea, Aunt Neva, Aunt Hannah and Aunt Elianor the day before we headed back to Oregon. I'm glad we saw Glea before she died (the next day). Hannah bounced Maren on her knees and called her Amber.

Okay, WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?! I'm going to be NINE months pregnant in JULY in ARKANSAS! I went grocery shopping today and it was like 100 degrees, but when you add the humidity on top of that... Wow, let's just say it's something to experience. I definately think I will be timing out the arrival of our next baby if we decide to have one.

So, my mom (with the help of a few others) finally decided on plans for the reunion at the beginning of July. The evening of July 2 (Thursday) we'll have Navaho tacos. Yum, yum. This will most likely take place at Mike and Nicole's house, since our yard is full of rivets from trucks. Thursday the 3rd is when Mandi and her family are being sealed in the Billings temple. We're not sure of the time, but she wanted late afternoon. Friday morning is the breakfast for the extended family. It's at the park close to our house. That evening is a hot dog roast and Richard and Linda's. We will also watch a movie outside. Then, those that want to light fireworks can head over to Adrin's across the field. Those that just want to watch (those with little ones) can stay at Richard and Linda's and see from there.

Rhonda gave birth to Isabel Kathryn Hawley on May 17th at 5:36pm. She is 5lbs 7oz and 19in long. She was 2 weeks early because she hadn't been growing in side of Rhonda for 3 weeks. Hey all,

A little update about the S. Hawley fam. Rhonda had a bad abdominal attack about 2 weeks ago. We were at the ER for several hours while they monitored her. They took some ultrasounds and told use they would contact us back when they found out more. They were saying it could be gall stones or a pancreatic attack. If it were the latter she would be threatened with cancer if not removed and diabetes if it were removed. Thanks to your prayers and mom putting her name in the temple the doctors called us and said she just has several gall stones. We found out that they recomend she wait until after she give birth to have them removed if she can. If she has another attck before the baby comes though they will force her to get the surgery right away.

Speaking of the baby, the pregnancy is going great. Nothing to report about there except that Rhonda is losing weight instead of gaining. She is only 7 pounds heavier then when she wasn't pregnant. The doctors say it's fine though because the baby is still growing. We are excited and scared for May 30th. We look forward to a little girl but we are feeling the pressure of being way over our heads.

Aaron is doing well. He is dancing with different moves now. He will bob up and down, then clap, then pat his legs, then twirl around and around. He is communicating with sign language as well when he is hungry or wants more. We really like that! The only problem so far is that he uses the eat sign for food and drink. He doesn't like it when we give him the wrong one. LOL! Just 2 days ago he figured out how to tickle us back. He will lift up your shirt, pinch you, and say "ikle, ikle, ikle!" He is only 15 months old.

Work is going ok and Rhonda and I are both back in school. I only have five classes left after this semester! Our tax return was good to us and we have most of our debts paid off now. We only have some medical bills and student loans left. I was able to fix the 150cc scooter I acquired and ride it to work every day now. ( Hope your jealous Hans. LOL) It's nice to have my own mode of transportation. I certainly can't commute with it though. It's not freeway legal in Utah. I like being able to leave the car with Rhonda though while I'm at work.

Finally, I know you will all say we are crazy but we now have three ferrets. We only have 1 ferret for the last 2 years. Don't worry, we got a HUGE cage and put it out side in the back yard. We are not stinking up the house. I have a co-worker that had to get rid of her 2 ferrets. She had the huge cage and lots of equipment. It was all given to us for free so it is no extra cost to us. Ferrets eat dry cat food so they are very cheap to keep. Anyway, the two new ferrets are sooo cute, their fur is so soft and cuddly, and they love people. We thought Karrot was cool but now we see her real personality when comparing her to the other two. She is mean and rough to the others. I can't blame her since we had a cat for awhile that she had to defend herself against. (Oh ya, we got rid of our cat before we moved to this new place.) Karrot is great with people but not other animals. Oh, we got a boy and a girl. The boy is Soot and the girl is Asha. So ya, we have 3 ferrets. If any of you want a ferret we have plenty and we could give you a good cage to go with it. They are all fixed and their scent glands have been cut out so they aren't as stinky as a wild ferret. I'm not trying to get rid of any of them but I know that we won't be able to keep them forever. Well that's enough for now I'm sure.

Paul Ray Gardner

Born 1-26-09 at 9:15 am. He weighed 6 lbs 14 oz. He is doing good. He has jaundice so he has to be on the billi lights. I am still recovering turns out that I got the pneumoni. So I was pretty sick over the weekend. I went to the hospital friday night and has some cat scans done to see what the problem was. They thought there might be a blood clot but there wasn't thank goodness. Bryce has been so wonderful! He has made sure I have everything I need and helps me with about almost everything. We are glad that Paul came into our family. I hope you all will get to meet him soon. We love you all

Well you know life is getting too busy when you don't have time to blog. I've really missed it and actually feel guilty that it has been so long since I have posted. Tonight was such a nice night that I had to say something about it. I was laying on the couch, (completely bushed) but so content with a grandchild asleep on my chest another playing close by. Richard rubbing my feet and Mark playing on the guitar and singing as the other kids played card games. I told Richard this is one of the best moments in life. What more could a person ask for?

Merry Christmas everyone! Sorry that we didn't send a card out. I guess this will have to do. Well Bryce just finished the fall semester last week. He will start back up in January though. He is probably going to be very busy he is going to take 16 credits and work at the hospital on the weekends and some days during the week depending on school. I hope that he will be home when it is time to have the baby. I have been keeping busy by doing stuff around the house to get ready for Christmas and for the baby. Boy am I getting big. I have been pretty lucky that I haven't been sick at all. My body just is sore. Thats my only complaint. Well I forgot that I don't like waking up 5 times in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. But I guess it's good practice to wake up that many times cause I will probably have to do it when the baby is born. Patricia and I plan on blessing our babies in April the week after conference if anyone wants to come. My dad said he would come if we did it at the same time. Well I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. If you are traveling please travel safely. We love you all

Hello everyone! So its almost been 4 months since I have been married and I am already pregnant. We are so excited! I am due Feb 14th. The baby is healthy. I haven't had any sickness at all yet I am hoping that I never get it. I was starting to show within one month I have gained about 20 pounds.
Bryce starts school next week. He is going to find a job at the hospital. I am going to start water aerobics, and do craft projects. Right now I am working on a quilt out of my mom's old clothes. Other than that nothing else is new with us. Leslie had her baby Justin at the end of July. He was about 9 pounds. Everyone else just remains busy. Hope you all are doing well

Well the kids and I have been staying at my mom's House until our apartment in available in September and we spent all day outside yesterday (despite the mosquitoes the kids got bite by) And Ella decided she wanted to help (eat) in the garden. I don't post much on here, because my Hawley family has a blog, as well as Emilie's family. I also have my own my own blog for my classroom students to keep up with homework. I love blogs, but sometimes I think E-mail is easier. You hit send, and it goes to everyone whether they want it or not.

Em is still going strong in her nursing program. She has this term, and then one year left. She is doing extremely good, but the program is incredibly demanding and difficult. She is working on her associates of nursing which will make her an RN, but she is putting in WAY more effort than I had to for my Masters. The difference is that it took me 9 years to get my masters, whereas even with prerequisites, she is only taking 3, and nursing pays substantially more money than teaching does. Still, we all have to do what we love. I could NEVER go into the medical field. Blood and guts don't bother me at all, but I can't stand to see people hurting.

I am still teaching in Tillamook. I have applied for a part time grant coordinator position, but haven't heard anything back yet. There is also another part time administrative position overseeing the English Language Learners program that I will probably apply for when it opens up this month.

I am not working at the hardware store very much anymore. I have been called into scouting and so need my weekends free for camping trips, and for spending more time with my growing kids, and so I can be home so Emilie can get her school work done. Obviously, having 5 kids takes a lot of time and energy away from her, so I am trying to step up.

Daniel will be baptized this July. Crazy. Hannah is finishing kindergarten. She recently had her hair cut. Her father was NOT pleased. Still, I don't do her hair every morning, so I really have no right to complain. Ben is 4 and in preschool. Jonathan is 2 and getting into EVERYTHING. Levi is 9 months and is a happy little drooling machine.

FYI: Today was the last day for the open house. I volunteered again last night and took a tour after my shift was over. The inside is amazing! So much detail everywhere you look. We just wanted to say Hi. We are very sad we missed the Rexburg Temple Open House. We'd been looking forward to it for a very long time, but the weather decided to turn wintery on us. It snowed pretty much for 4 straight days here in Lovell, with a few clear skies off and on. Sandy took advantage of it though and stayed home with her girls, which doesn't happen very often. Well Christmas came and gone very quick for my family. Everyone came home this year it was awesome to see everyone. It was really cool that chris fianlly got to meet him nephew and niece. Logan is almost 2 kinda scary to think about. Ella is almost 3 months and its amazing to see how much further ahead she is then logan was. She is already trying to sit on her own and loves to stand. Logan is starting to learn his abc's and loves his little sister. Even though he bugs her a lot, she is the first person she seems to smile at in the morning. Brad has been out of work since november except when it snows so its been kinda hard living with almost 800 dollar rent with no money coming in. But he just found a job working in brooklyn center about an hour away. He'll be working at Luther Brookdale Chevi he'll go down in pay but not by much and he'll be getting more hours so were very blessed. Today was the first day Brad fasted with me so i was very happy. My testimony is growning more and more each day. For those of you who dont know I got a calling in church, I was called as Primary Nursery Leader so im so happy to be doing that. The little children in my class are so smart they make my testimony grow just by being in there. Their are 9 children in my class and they all are used to not sharing lol so its tough to teach them that. I have some activites im very excited to do with them. Well I better be off to bed, Before i got though these pics are of Ella with santa she just loved him, and the of logan being a cutie, and then the last one is of Brad and Ella sleeping (they do that a lot together hehehe)

It got me thinking that we don't have many stories, that I know of, written down about Grandma and Grandpa Mayes. Would each of you please write down a memory you have with one, or both, of them. Hello, this is Mike.
Just thought I would share some recent photos and let you know we are well. Halloween was a blast this year. Last year was the first year I really went overboard on Halloween but unfortunately not many came to our home, well the story was different this year with nicole teaching here in lovell. It was like free advertising. It was very spooky on our porch. I had smoke, lights, sounds and a variety of stuffed people (myself being one of them). I think I might have gone a little too far though, I actually do want the kids to come inside. many would open the door look in and say to their buddy, "you go in first".
Anyway, we had a good time.

My worst nightmare!

Well it happened. The other night Catherine was over to my house. Eli was flying Kyle to Provo. So we decided to do some crafts for the Lovells Craft fair. It was getting late and I offered to let the girls have a sleep-over with Matty. Catherine left and I decided to wait for Eli. He texted about 12:30ish and said he was over I15 and I80. I knew it would be awhile but decided to stay up anyway. I got the girls to sleep and worked on some web designs (another story). He called about 1:30. I hated the tone in his voice from the split second that I heard it. He said,.....I'm in Cedar. My comms aren't working and I can't turn on the runway lights. I'm almost out of gas. He had been flying in the pattern for a couple minutes trying to get ahold of his boss and old instructor. He only had some of them programmed in his phone. No-one was answering so he had to make a quick decision. Try to keep getting ahold of someone to come turn them on or fly to Saint George. He told me to run up to our airport in St George and find someone to turn them on or get in a plane and turn them on myself. He said he wasn't sure how long he had before he ran out of gas. He plans for a 45 min reserve in case of emergencies. but wasn't sure how long he had been flying. So his parting words were....Call 911 if you have too!
I called my neighbor to see if she could come over with the kids. no answer. WHAT! IS THIS THE NIGHT NO ONE WILL ANSWER THEIR PHONE!!!! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! K fine (it was after two at this point in time.) So I called my other friend, for sure she would answer.nope. I left. I felt like I was wasting time so I called Catherine on the way and she answered her phone! That was the longest ride to the airport. Speeding slightly, hazards on.... ran one red (very cautiously!!! of course).....passed a cop (yeah, even this didn't get their attention!!) I pulled up to the airport and it was dark.....everywhere! Thats when I called 911. I got on the tarmack and began running to all the private plans. all were locked but one. I got in the one, but I couldn't get the lights to come on! I turned the master switch on then the comms and clicked the button like mad. No lights. Soooo frusterating!!! Panicked now yes!!! the operator had put me on hold forever ago! I felt so helpless. FINALLY the operator got back on said he had just talked to Eli and we was able to land safely in Cedar. Eli ended up calling 911 there and the airport fire trucks came....lights on and everything!! I think they thought it would be a crash landing or something! The reason I freaked out was people have tried many times to just land it in the dark and crashed and died! I knew that he was following emergency procedure and was coolheaded about it. Anyhow FAA did have to investigate, but Eli followed everything to a T! I feel extremely blessed and am so greatful for the power of prayer!! Now I just hope that is the last time we experience something like that!! Experiences are good for future references but...... I can't handle them very well!!

Hi guys. Hans here. I was in the process of making a web page-blog for my classes when I noticed my name came up on this one. I don't remember signing in to it before, but apparently I must have.

Anyway, Teaching in Tillamook is going well. My room is right across the hall from Brian's. I am teaching two classes of spanish 1, three classes of spanish 2, and they even gave me one of Brian Reynold's Govt/Econ classes to teach this year so he could have an extra period to devote to senior projects.

Our kids are doing well.
Daniel is 7 and in 2nd grade
Hannah is 5 and in Kindergarten
Benjamin is 4 and in Preschool
Jonathan is 1 and in Nursery (FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Levi is 2 months and is in a stupor most of the time - but he is beginning to show signs of life and has a pretty good smile when you can catch his eye.

Emilie has completed her prerequisites for the nursing program and is officially enrolled in Clatsop Community College's Nursing program (That's for you, Uncle Kevin. CCC is in Astoria, for those of you un-lucky non-Oregonian residents who may not have known that.) Anyway, she is thrilled to be back in school again, but is finding raising 5 kids, running a household, and going to school full time is quite the arduous task. Gee. You think? Anyway, she does fabulously well at balancing everything. I don't know how she does it. Just this morning, another teacher in our ward said she was envious of Emilie's abilities, and that Em always looks like she just stepped out of the salon and is very well put-together. Yeah, I'm a lucky guy.

Anyway, now that I have my own blog (http://hanshawley.blogspot.com/) I'm sure I will probably be a more frequent visitor to this site.

Hello!!!

It's me!! I finally decided to write something on here. I will update you on my life and my family. I am living in Utah with Patricia and her family. I am working at Bluffdale elementary school with preschool kids part time. And I am working at Joseph Smith Memorial Building as a banquet server part time. So yeah thats my life exciting I know. Patricia is busy as usual with her kids, ceramics, scrapbooking and trying to keep the house looking pleasant. Leslie is doing good she is starting up a daycare at her house. Lana is the same still working at a shoe store and helping dad with the business. Dad is doing good. I dont know if any of you know this yet but he has been dating this lady (Marylin) for awhile and they are getting married in November. She has been in our ward for a long time. I dont really know her that well, but she is nice. She is a nurse, She has 3 kids: two daughters and one boy. Amanda is the oldest 23. Melony who is around 16, Jacob is the youngest (14 I think). I know what your thinking that she must be a younger woman but she is the same age as my mom if not older then her.

We will be going home at the end of this month to get the rest of my stuff because he will be moving to her house. Her oldest daughter will be moving in with her family to our house. Its weird to think that I will have two Stepsisters, a stepbrother and a stepmother.

Rexburg Temple Open House

Rexburg, Idaho - With construction of the Rexburg Idaho Temple nearing completion, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced official dates for the building's open house and dedication. The open house will begin December 29, 2007 and continue for four weeks. Tours for the open house will be held Monday through Saturday commencing at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 9:00 p.m. except on Mondays when tours will end at 6:00 p.m.During the open house period, the Rexburg Temple will be open to everyone of any faith, denomination, or background. All who are interested in learning more about the temple and the Church are welcome. Free tickets are required to attend and will be made available to the general public beginning November 26, 2007 by logging onto www.lds.org/reservations or by calling toll free at 1-800-537-6181. Open house tours will be organized into small groups and will begin at the neighboring stake center on Seventh South with a brief introduction to the temple and its role in the beliefs and practices of the Church. Each group will then be escorted through the temple, where the purpose and function of each room will be explained. The tour will then conclude at the stake center with refreshments.The Temple dedication will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2008. It is anticipated that four dedicatory sessions will be held. The dedication will be broadcast to several stake centers throughout the area served by the temple, as well as a number of locations on the Brigham Young University-Idaho campus. Dedication recommends will be required for attendance at the dedicatory services.The settlement and history of the Upper Snake River Valley will be commemorated at a youth cultural celebration to be held as part of the open house and dedication of the Rexburg Temple. This event is designed to appeal to everyone in the community. The cultural celebration will be held on February 2, 2008 in the Hart Auditorium on the BYU-Idaho campus. The program will also be broadcast live to other campus locations and to stake centers throughout the area. Elder Val R. Christensen, a former member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, has been announced as the president of the Rexburg Temple. His wife Ruth will serve with him as temple matron. Elder Christensen has served in several Area Presidencies and as second counselor in the general presidency of the Sunday School. His other Church service includes bishop, stake president, and mission president.

Canoeing & School

I went canoeing with my branch a few weeks ago. I ended up with 2 brothers who were intent on tipping everyone, ourselves included (as you can tell by my face). It was a cool day and I wasn't expecting to go swimming. At least I was covered so I coulds stay warmish. Pretty much as soon as we got out of the river, the rain/hail started. It was perfect timing and a great day.

I just found out that I was admitted to go back to school full-time starting winter semester here at BYU-Idaho. I will be majoring in Child Development and will graduate next December (2008). I will hopefully go on to grad school from there and earn an MS and hopefully a PhD someday. WAHOO!

Hi everybody! Well we are doing good down here, we hope everyone else is the same. Kayla just started school and she loves it. She's made lot's of friends already. I just started taking three online classes at a community college here. It is nice because it keeps me plenty busy, but I still can stay at home with Callie. Callie is going to be turning one next week. We cannot believe it's been a year already. Time sure does fly. I was thinking about it this morning and I realized we have moved seven times in the past seven years! Wow... I really would like to find a home and quit moving around so much. So hopefully that is our next big adventure... finding a house. We have to make sure we want to stay here long term thought before we make any permanant plans. Well, anyway we'll keep you posted!

Hey everyone,

I miss you all, Our summer has been filled with lots of new things. In April we moved to Yonkers NY, Which I thought I would like a lot more then I did. It was noisy and way to much traffic for me. We were able to go to central park, it was amaizing. I loved everything about it except I guess that I had to walk FOREVER (hehe). We got to ride the train and subway which were both first for all 3 of us. We also learned how much money it costs to live on your own! Makes me want to never move out of my parents house (hehe)!!! Brad is still out in NY he will be getting home on friday though. It has been a long 5 weeks without him.

Logan started calling my dad, daddy! We changed that really quick! Logan is getting so big, He is 17 months and is about 26 lbs. He has been an amazing baby, He just recently started his terrible twos (hehe) so he is not listening to me anymore. It's hard not having brad around because he was the one that would inforce what I would say, So now I have to do it by myself! He started kissing my belly when i say give your sister a kiss. He's going to be a good big brother. We were a little nervious because he is so rough most of the time. But he will be good.

Brad is working for Apex Alarm, he is installing security systems. Which is good because he wants to be an electrition. I really want him to go to school to get it started before he gets older and no one wants to take him under their wing as an intern. But he says we dont have the money for it, which we really dont but it's more important then most anything else that we spend money on.

Me, I've been really excited about being pregnant with a girl!! We decided when we found out we were pregnant that if it was a girl that we would wait for a few years to have another child so we can get our finances sorted out and beable to get a house and for me to find a job. I really want to open my own buisness dealing with dogs, like a dog boarding place. I love dogs and would adopt anyone that I saw if my husband would allow it, But he wont (hehe) but I understand. I also want to open my own daycare but I'd rather deal with dogs. After having logan he made me realize kids are not as fun when you deal with them on a everyday basis! (hehe) I love that kid!!!! Well love you all but I think I said everything that was on my mind!

Summer is over...

Hello all! Well our summer is officially over...I had a classroom full of students yesterday. I am now working at the elementary in Lovell. It is so nice to be close to home. It's been difficult to drop our little Whitney off at the baby-sitter's, but it is getting better everyday. I am able to feed her at lunchtime, so I have a nice break in my day. Mike is working at Woodcraft now and says that it feels like high school wood shop all day. He is plugging away on our house which is now a different color. Little Whitney is getting bigger everyday. She is 5 months old now and is full of smiles. I think she weighs around 20 pounds. She loves to play with toys and is working hard at sitting up on her own. Hope everyone is enjoying the last weeks of warmth!

President James E. Faust, 87, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a general authority for nearly 35 years, died early today.

A news release from the LDS Church said he died at his home of "causes incident to age," surrounded by his family. The time of death was reported as 12:20 a.m.

Bruce Olsen, managing director of Church Public Affairs, said this morning that President Faust's "gentle manner and depth of knowledge, which was an important part of his ministry for nearly 35 years, will be missed."

"He was a true Christian who spoke and wrote with wit and wisdom," Olsen said. "Many members of the church loved his unique way of teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ at General Conference."

Well, family, here I am!!I never thought I'd ever do this, who ever came up with the word BLOG?!?!? Is it an acronym for something? Well, I sure have enjoyed keeping up on the news of the family when I have looked at the blog. Seeing Shawnee and the Folk Dancers in Rexburg sure brought back the memories as before any of you were even born,(well, 1972) I was in Ricks College International Folk Dance Team and even toured for 10 days with them just before my mission to Australia. Yes, they were that desperate for dancers. American folk(square dancing) was always my favorite though. Look forward to keeping in touch with and from all of you. Nina, my parents visited Branson and loved the shows, they said the entertainment was nonstop and was better than Nashville. Sorry Seth.........later, Uncle Kevin

International Dance Festival

The International Dance Festival is going on here in Rexburg. Here I am at the parade on Monday with two of my very favorite people sitting in front of Taco Bell on Main Street. President and Sister Spaulding are the sweetest couple. He is in my branch presidency, and she is one of my visiting teachers. They are great. (Their son married one of Linda's sisters.) The parade was fun. There were only about 10 countries who were in the parade. China, Czech Republic, Japan, Sweden, and a few others. There were beautiful costumes all around. The biggest representation, of course, was the US. The dance team was from the college. Afterwards there was a street fair. There were some girls from our branch who go to Paul Mitchell. They had a booth and were styling hair. Most of the people with us from the branch who attended the parade got their hair done. It was quite the sight to see. A fun evening in Rexburg.

Hello everyone! Sounds like everybody is doing great. Congratulations to Eli on his pilots liscence. That is awesome! I also wanted to say congratulations to Hans and Emily on the birth of their new baby.
We are doing good down here. Callie is getting big, she is crawling all over the place and getting into everything. Kayla is having fun being outdoors. She just signed up for dance classes with a studio here, so she is very excited about that. School will start in a few more weeks and I think that will give her more opportunity to make friends. We are also going to Branson, Missouri in a couple weeks with Brads family for our family vacation. I'm really excited. I think it will be a lot of fun! Hope everyone is doing well.

Well Hello! Congrats on the new baby Hawley family!
Sounds like things are going well with everyone! Eli just got his privates pilot license on the 24th. He did awesome. Now he just has to build hours before he can take the test for the instrument rating. He took my up this past weekend..... it was fun (a little scary at times I'll admit, but he did awesome!) I was greatful that I didn't throw up. He spent the first 5 days doing that! But understanding the maneuvers they had to do.... I can see why. Anyhow.... from there on he will build more hours and be a CFI (Certified Flight Instructor), and then work his way up to get his commercial rating. We are excited for him! He's my hero!! :)
Other than that I stay home with my two fishies (BrookLynn and Elle). Its still warm here! We have had a ton of rain this last week. Flash flooding....all thats kind of out of our realm! The humidity + heat reminds us of Tulsa! I do believe that Nina is experiencing that!! Anyhow, thats about it with us! Until next time!

New Hawley Baby

In case you haven't heard, Emilie had our 5th child on Thursday at 3:59 P.M. at Tillamook County General Hospital. Brittney Gerken was the doctor. Levi Weighed 5 lbs 13 ounces, was 18 inches long, and is the 4th Hawley Clone of my 4 boys. He looks just like the others did when they were born. Even though he was a full month early, there were absolutely no complications for mother or baby. Both are doing just fine and getting stronger every minute. Levi is also getting bigger, while Emilie is thankful to be getting smaller again :-) Em is a real trooper. She had the baby completely naturally (by actual choice this time) as she knew that they wouldn't have enough time to give her an epidural. It did take a couple of hours for the baby to descend once her water had broken (around 11:00 A.M.) but once he was down there, it was only about 2 pushes and he POPPED out. They literally had to catch him.

I will be out of town for the next week in Wyoming picking up my dad so I can drive him back for a (now double) baby blessing, but I am sure Emilie would love to hear from you. This trip was planned several months ago, and we had planned on having Levi AFTER I got back, but this works out even better. Now I don't have to worry about her going into labor while I am not there. Don't worry. I am not totally abondoning her right now. Mom is living with us for the month of August. We couln't do it without her . . . again. She is always coming to the rescue of her children.

So, Rhonda and I went to do the ultra sound and the verdict is....it's a Baby! No really it's a boy! This kid is a real squirmer too. He wouldn't hold still for the nurse.We got to see him bunching Rhonda's bladder with his legs at full force. She said she felt uncomfortable but didn't know why until then.

We're living in the basement of ShawnDell's parents. The real estate market here is quite ridiculous. ShawnDell's parents' home has increased in value over $40K in the last year. It makes us sick to even think about buying a home, and yet we keep getting urges to just go ahead and bite the bullet. It's just money, right? (Yeah, LOTS of it!)

My work is decent. It's taken awhile to get used to what it is they expect of me. Did I ever mention that I switched jobs 6 months after moving here? I moved from the CPA firm to Western Petroleum as an accountant. They sort of made up a job for me because they needed a bunch of reconciling completed; however, they soon began giving and taking other responsibilities as needed.

We miss getting together with family. Since we live with the only family here, we hardly ever venture out with others. Thank goodness for Emmalee; it helps us occasionally socialize with other parents. She just finished baseball and swimming lessons, and she has a tumbling class once a week. I'm really hoping we can get her started in music lessons as school begins. She has shown interest in both piano and voice.

We ended up towing away the maroon Pontiac after the engine decided to go belly-up. We had replaced it just a couple years before, and the warranty had just expired. Anyway, after much debate as to what vehicle to replace it with, we ended up with a truck. I can't say I ever imagined myself as a truck owner, but I quickly got used to it. It's a silver 2000 Ford 150 with over 100K miles, but it was in really good condition and came at what we felt was a good price. I mainly use it to go back and forth to work (a whole mile each way), but we've also enjoyed it a couple times camping and 4-wheeling.

We purchased Eli's 4-wheeler from him as he needed some debt relief while going to flight school, and we've enjoyed using it. I can't say I'm a big fan of helmet hair (or squished cheeks, or bugs on my teeth, or dirt plastered to sunscreen, or ...), but oh the excitement of careening down a dirt path at a heartpounding speed headed towards certain doom.
